Midnight Foundation is a nonprofit International Organization dedicated to funding and promoting research in the field of Translational Oncology.

With a task force approach aimed at connecting researchers, veterinarians and physicians, we are committed to investing in the most promising research to push the limits of possibility and bring innovative therapies to market.

Midnight Foundation started in 2021, after Midnight’s death due to brain metastasis. Currently, hemangiosarcoma means certain death, as this fatal cancer continues to have unmet needs in terms of lack of effective treatment options and/or lack of research capacity within the area, both of which contribute to inferior survival and outcome.

The ultimate goal of Midnight Foundation is to push the limits of possibility for all dogs with hemangiosarcoma by attacking it on all fronts.

But that is not all.

The dog is an alternative, powerful and exceptional model in oncology, not only because dog tumors are histologically and molecularly similar to humans, but also because dogs naturally develop cancers, have an intact immune system, and respond similarly to conventional therapies. As a consequence, canine trials offer a valuable opportunity to overcome obstacles associated with translational research, possibly speeding up the development of new anticancer treatments which will benefit both, dogs and human beings.

Midnight Foundation main focus is on innovation, new knowledge generation and rapid translation of discoveries from lab to clinic.

To accomplish this, Midnight Foundation will:

• help creating a biobank of canine cancer tissues and a database to improve access to accurate and up-to-date information
• link the efforts of veterinary comparative oncologists and scientists within different expertise field with the work of basic cancer researchers
• design canine clinical trials that are integrated into the development path of new cancer drugs or immune-therapeutics
• encourage research by awarding grants to the most deserving projects
• provide educational material for veterinarians and pet owners
